I love the look of this twisted half up-do and the versatility of the style! The soft waves tie in perfectly with the romantic feel of the twists.
It's a great boho style for a wedding, summer concert, or date night look.
The first part of the tutorial shows how I blend my shorter-to-mid length lob with my longer extensions. I'm wearing my 18" set of gggHAIR extensions and using a 1.25" curling iron.
If you want to do this look on natural hair, with no extensions or you already know how to blend your hair and extensions, skip right to 3 minutes and 39 seconds in the video for the twist tutorial.
The twists are surprisingly easy to add. I'm using a technique called "pancaking." You hold one side of the twist or braid and gently pull on the other side. It makes the twist or braid get bigger and more undone and is a quick and easy way to add tons of volume to a look.
You know all those major hair inspo braids you see on Instagram? They've all been pancaked. I recommend doing a quick braid or twist prior to doing this hairstyle and practicing pancaking once or twice before doing the full look. It's fairly easy, but just requires a little practice so you don't pull too much or too little.
I hope you enjoy and please feel free to ask any questions!
Thank you for reading and watching!
I love YouTube. I can so easily get sucked in and spend hours watching beauty tutorials!
Ashley, a.k.a froufrou412 on YouTube and Instagram, is a fav because of how clearly she breaks down every style step-by-step in her tutorials. I always feel like I can actually recreate the gorgeous hair styles she does.
She's just a peach and this video is AMAZING! She reviews our hair and does a great boho half up hair-do that is major hair inspo. Make sure you subscribe to her channel, she posts videos regularly.
Ashley is wearing shade 14, Medium Warm Blonde, in the 18" 180 grams set. She trimmed hers about an inch to blend them with her shorter bob haircut.
I love that you can see how thick each weft is in the video. The hair geek in me went wild!
